For Elke, after taking her two girls to ballet class she knew she really wanted to be a teacher. Her life-long love of ballet and dance made the decision easy. Before starting Tutu Studios in 2011, Elke taught ballet at various ballet schools in the Eastern Suburbs and Inner West including MacDonald College Strathfield.
“I found I loved teaching very young students; it really is a calling or niche to teach young children. It demands a particular skill set, imagination, patience, a sense of joy and I loved creating imaginative class plans and stories to teach.”
WHAT ELKE LOVES ABOUT TEACHING
“I love the immediacy and spontaneity of the children, and their imaginations and the joy of sharing dance. I also love watching them blossom as dancers and confident individuals. The sense of pride you feel as a teacher when the children progress is indescribable. It is the most joy-filled wonderful job that I get to create cherished childhood memories.”
ELKE’S FAVOURITE THING TO TEACH
“Ballet and I particularly love preschool dance and Tutu Toddlers.”
WHEN ELKE’S NOT DANCING, SHE’S…
Spending time with my husband and two girls, walking the dogs, eating Asian food, going to Pilates, dreaming up new class plans and stories and commissioning gorgeous props.
